Minutes from our June 10, 2009 meeting

Principal' Report
Mrs. Leddy announced that in September, Francis will have 2 additional Self-Contained classrooms (one will be Primary-2nd grade and the other will be 3rd-5th grade). The two classrooms are students that are being transferred to Francis from Silver Spring. The new classrooms are being sent to us, because Silver Spring needs to open up 2 classrooms for Bradley Hospital, who will be servicing some East Providence students within the East Providence schools instead of Bradley Hospital.

Mrs. Leddy also announced that there will probably be a 3rd half-day Kindergarten, next year. Mrs. Leddy should know by 6/18. With these additional classrooms the school will gain about 50 more children. Francis can hold 450 children and we are currently at 390.

This years Field Day was a big hit. Mrs. Rapoza did an excellent job organizing the day. There were opening ceremonies, banners for the classrooms, all the teachers were involved, and the children were actively engaged.

Mrs. Leddy's computer has not been fully restored after the virus. She has not been able to print out this month's calendar, but she intends to print out the upcoming events for the 5th graders schedule ands end it home.

The 2nd graders field trip to Caratunk was cancelled due to rain and has been rescheduled to the Bristol Audubon on 6/16.

Treasurers' Report
This year the PTO has a profit of $8,528! It is a testament to our parents! Thank you. The motion was put forward and it was approved to do an End-of-Year Spend Down. Most of the profit was spent for things needed for the school, such as, an event banner for holiday shopping, some tables for use during future events, new printers for some of the classrooms, overhead calculators.

Fall Fundraising
We will try some different things for fundraising next year. In the fall the school will be having a Walk-a-thon, smencils will be sold through out the year. We will still do Holiday Shopping, Yankee Candle, in the Spring, and Fun Money and Restaurant Night. An email will be sent out in August giving us more details.
