Community Service

Myron J. Francis is designated as a Feinstein Leadership School. The Feinstein Foundation provides teachers with instructional guidance and other incentives, including grants for projects they undertake with their classes to help better their communities.

The community service committee is chaired by Brook Ashley. You can contact Brook at markandbrook@gmail.com  to volunteer to help out with any of the following projects. Thank you!

November –  Feinstein Fall Food Drive: Non-perishable food items to benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Rumford. 

December – MJF’s Annual Hat & Mitten Drive 
BRAND-NEW hats, mittens/gloves, scarves in all sizes for girls and boys are collected in the school foyer at the front entrance.  The items are being donated to the Rhode Island Donation Exchange Program, who will pass these items on to qualified people in need through more than 85 statewide social service agencies.

January:  Food Bank Bingo:  An evening bingo is held in the school gym with admission being a non-perishable food item to benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry.  We are also holding a Breakfast Food Drive to benefit The Mathewson Street Sunday Morning Friendship Breakfast.

February:  Valentines for Vets, in early February a flyer with a paper heart cut-out will be sent home for students to decorate to be delivered prior to 2/14 to the the RI Veterans Home.  

March:  EBCAP “Baby Shower” – A flyer will go home to families prior to this drive to collect baby related items in the school foyer for one week to be delivered to the East Bay Community Action Program.
